Exhibition by UCCIL Womens Empowerment / Narishakti Committee at Redcross Bhawan

UCCIL’s Women's’ Empowerment and Narishakti Committee, in association with the Women’s Forum of World Trade Centre (WTC) Bhubaneswar, have organized, for the first time, a grand exhibition on 06th March 2024, Wednesday, showcasing entrepreneurial workmanship of female power on the occasion of Entrepreneur’s Week, the first week of March every year, celebrated in Odisha in commemoration of the birth date, 05th March, of the legendary son of soil Late Biju Patnaik ji. This occasion was also on the eve of International Women’s Day.

 

The Chief Guest of the event Sri Sashi Sekhar Mohanty, the MD and CEO of Essar Minmet Ltd hugely praised the effort and innovative idea of the UCCIL’s Women's’ Empowerment and Narishakti Committee for having envisioned and successfully executed a humongous setup for the exhibition, that itself became a showcase of the Women power and their entrepreneurial zeal.

 

The Guest of Honour Dr. Smt. Reena Routray, the Chairperson of Mahila Atmanirbhar Abhiyaan and the Advisor to the Bhubaneswar chapter of WTC, said that she doesn't make a gender-bias or distinction when it comes to entrepreneurship, the energy and skill set and the support that a women garner when it comes to setting up their own business.

 

The President of UCCIL, Dr. Brahma Mishra said that the contribution of India’s female entrepreneurs is much less as compared to our neighbor China and most of the European and the developed and economically vibrant countries. To achieve the goal of making India more self-sufficient we need to empower our women, and to increase the working women population, who actually contribute to 50% of our population. He showed confidence that our women entrepreneurs will rise up to the expectation of our national goal of making a new and Atmanirbhar Bharat.

 

Chaudhury Jyoshna Dash, Head of the Women Forum of WTC said that evolving workplace for women, rise of women workforce, utilizing their ability, agility, flexibility and competitiveness and seeing in all of you the new innovators, upholders and prophets of new vision and action in all these wonderful and powerful ladies made her heart go extremely hopeful of a brighter and more beautiful future.

 

Smt. Jayashree Mishra, the Chairperson of Women's’ Empowerment and Narishakti Committee, UCCIL, said that they have tried to make a humble and modest attempt to demonstrate and display various products that are being manufactured and produced by our own women entrepreneurs.

 

This exhibition running from 2.30 PM to 9.00 PM with as many as 42 stalls showcased at the Red Cross Bhawan, on the Rajpath, Opposite Institute of Engineers, Unit 9, Bhubaneswar on 06th March 2024 that went on till 9 pm. These stalls included, among variety food items and garments, metal containers and tin packaging and stickering, handicrafts, artifacts, natural cosmetic products, honey, khadi, traditional Odia culinary, millets, tribal products, home decor, beautification products, nursery grown items, jewelry, semi-precious gems and stones, local -drinks, plastic containers, cloth bags, designer clutches, hand painted saree, pattachitra, painted lights, designer lamps, effervescent candles, fancy cutlery and lot more.

 

At the end of the day, all the stall owners and participants in the exhibition and fellow members of UCCIL and WTC placed a lot of confidence in the success of the first-time effort and experience and expressed their interest and zeal at coming together yet again and again to have similar showcasing and exhibitions to promote more and more of the weaker section of the struggling women entrepreneurs of odisha.
