The Utkal Chamber of Commerce and Industry Limited (UCCIL) felicitated Padmashree Dilip Tirkey, son of the soil, the pride of India, former captain of Indian Hockey team who is now the President of Hockey India, the only hockey player and captain who became the President of Hockey India. No other player has yet become sports administrator before him.
Sri U. N Behera, IAS retired and Sri Pradosh Mohanty, IRS retired who are honourary members of UCCIL were invited as the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour in the felicitation ceremony. Also present on the dias along with them and Padmashree Dilip Tirkey and Sri Brahma Mishra, President of UCCIL were Sri A. K. Sharda, Honourary Secretary of UCCIL, Sri Sanjeev Mahapatra, Vice President-General, Sri S. K. Swain, Vice President-Commerce, Sri Narayan Kumar, Honourary Treasurer, Sri G. L. Sharma, Honourary Joint Secretary and Sri Akshay Khandelwal, Honourary Joint Treasurer.
Sri Brahma Mishra, President, UCCIL, in his welcome address introduced the iconic sports star to the audience in the felicitation ceremony that was conducted in chamber’s Conference Hall that was packed with members and invited guests among whom were present presidents, secretaries and members of many industrial associations, social forums and cultural groups. He gave a detailed career sketch, the arduous journey to the top and numerous, meritorious, magnificent achievements of Padmashree Tirkey to make his people and his country proud.
Post the deliberation and the addresses, Sri A. K. Sharda, Honourary Secretary of UCCIL invited, after all the directors of UCCIL, onto the dais representatives of UCCI Ladies Forum, Association of Industrial Entrepreneurs Bhubaneswar (AIEBA), CII, ICC, Odisha Plastic Association, Young Indians, Marwari Yuvak Sangh, Terapanth Yuvak Parishad, Uddan Badminton Academy, Bhubaneswar Music Circle, Society of Retired Forest Officers, Banwasi Kalyan Sangh, Odisha productivity Council, Hotel and Restaurant Association of Odisha, Sea Food Association, National Development Council of India and few others to felicitate Padmashree Tirkey with gifts, citations, uttariyas and flower bouquets.
Padmashree Dilip Tirkey in his brief address mentioned that he had never before received such grand and ceremonious felicitation that he received here in this forum. He thanked the Utkal Chamber for this hearty and grand gesture.
Prior to this felicitation ceremony UCCIL’s New Advisory Committee Meeting, the same evening where a detailed deliberation on the activities and responsibilities of the chamber and chalk out of future roadmap was conducted fruitfully.
