The Utkal Chamber of Commerce & Industry Limited (UCCIL) & Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Bhubaneswar celebrated the WORLD STANDARDS DAY, 2022 on 14th October 2022, Friday at the UCCIL Conference Hall. This was a day long programme with the global theme for this year 2022: “SHARED VISION FOR A BETTER WORLD”
Welcome address of the ceremony was given by Sri Jagannath Majhi, Director & Head BIS Bhubaneswar and the Reading of World Standards Day Global Message was done by Sri Abinash Bordoloi, Deputy Director, BIS Bhubaneswar.
Inaugural address was done by Sri Brahma Mishra, President UCCIL who highlighted on the initiation of world standards system in the European Union and in domestic administration and law. He pressed for an eye for quality in life.
Chief Guest of the ceremony Sri. Asit Tripathi, IAS (Retd.), Principal Advisor to Chief Minister, Odisha & Chairman, Western Odisha Development Council delivered a learned lecture on process and product standards, on role of tariff system in enforcing quality and standards. He highlighted the challenges before FSSAI in maintaining standards for better life.
That was followed with address by Special Guest Prof. S. K. Nayak, Vice Chancellor, Ravenshaw University, the Guest of Honour Sri P.K. Gupta, Joint Director & H.O.O, MSME DI, Cuttack and the Guest of Honour Sri Partha S Mohanty, Senior Vice President, Hitachi MGRM Net.
The Valedictory ceremony cum award distribution was done in the august hands of Sri U. N. Behera IAS (Retd), Former Chairman OERC who is also an honorary member of the UCCIL.
Throughout the day Technical Sessions were conducted by various experts and learned persons like Sri Nagaraj Kallianpur Nayak, Vice President & Head-Central Quality, Jindal Stainless Limited, Jajpur, by Dr. Bimal Sarangi, Principal, Raajdhani Engineering College, Bhubaneswar, by Sri Subash Kr. Sahu, Assistant Director, MSME, by Dr. Deepak Kumar Bisoyi, Food Safety cum Health Officer, FSSAI, Bhubaneswar.by Sri Partha S Mohanty, Senior Vice President, Hitachi MGRM Net, by Sri P. K. Sahoo, Principal Director & Head-CIPET (IPT), Bhubaneswar, by Ms. Sushma Epari, Partner at Epari Govindam & Sons, Cuttack and by Sri Subrata Panigrahi, COO, IQEMS, who was compering the whole day’s programme.
Vote of Thanks was delivered by Sri Ashok Kumar Sharda, the Honourary Secretary, UCCIL.
