The Cotton produced in Odisha is the best in country is a foregone conclusion. UCCIL in a high-level meeting on 24th Oct’ 2021 (Sunday) at Hotel The New Marrion, Bhubaneswar, Sri Upendra Prasad Singh, Union Secretary, Textile Dept. Govt. of India, the Chief-Guest of the evening stressed the need of boosting the sagging morale of Textile industries in Odisha, which has the potential of being the biggest manufacturer of Textiles, if properly nurtured and cultured.
President of UCCIL, Mr. Brahma Mishra in his inaugural address stressed the need of big textile houses of the country to come forward and establish their production units and fully take advantage of the good quality raw material i.e., Cotton in producing garments, apparels in huge quantity which shall boost the financial health of smaller downstream units. This if really done, shall solve the unemployment problem to a large extent, in addition to boosting the revenue of the stake exchequer, he added.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief-Guest Mr. Upendra P. Singh, IAS, Union Secretary Textile, Govt of India reiterated the same feeling of the President and urged for all-out help and effort by the local Govt. in inviting the large manufacturing houses to come forward in large nos. by taking advantage of the facilities available here, starting from raw material (Cotton), electricity, road connectivity, cheap labour etc.
